Servo hydraulic cylinder design is different than standard hydraulic cylinders. The pistons effectively have no seals to reduce seal friction, using the hydraulic fluid to support the cylinder and lubricate its movement. Servo hydraulic systems rely on fast speed of control and mostly use servo valves to achieve this. Seal friction can cause a time lag in the system, hence the design of servo hydraulic cylinders.
